Bike Parade 2013

On Sunday, May 19th, the third edition of the Bike Parade rode through the streets of Kortrijk. Approximately 150 people turned up for this bi-annual event.
Some people dressed up!
The Bike Parade was held during the Sinksenfeesten. This girl is from Cabaret Bicyclet, an act with 3 musicians, 2 dancers and a bike…
The boy in the middle won the button contest. He received the most buttons from other cyclists and won a bicycle!
Although the weather forecast wasn’t promising, the Bike Parade kept it dry.
And this is Brecht, who was on the banner of our Facebook page!
This is Nishantan, who works for Mobiel.
These are just a few pictures. More pictures can be found in the album “Bike Parade 2013” on the Facebook page of vzw Mobiel, who organized this parade.

We had some nice sunny days in Belgium. But unfortunately, these days are followed by some rainy ones…
Good thing to have a weatherproof coat then…

Meet Amalia and her boyfriend. Both are Erasmus students in Kortrijk and were born in Hungary. I thought they were both cycle chic.

Le Baiser Blotto – Robert Doisneau

- Le Baiser Blotto 1950
Robert Doisneau was a French photographer. He is renowned for his 1950 image Le baiser de l’hôtel de ville (Kiss by the Town Hall), a photograph of a couple kissing in the busy streets of Paris. The picture above is also a photograph from the LIFE assignment on young lovers in Paris. Good to know is that Doisneau did not risk taking images of real couples kissing; he employed a models (mostly young actors-in-training), placing them in interesting situations, with highly “Parisian” settings as backdrops. In every photograph he sought to reproduce the same gestural grace he had observed in other young lovers as they kissed. Below are some other pictures from his official website, showing some more people with bicycles.
