BXL is beautiful

Another perfect job by photographer Johan Martens!

Heading home

Heading home on a sunny afternoon, I met some beautiful cyclists who were enjoying their ride, just like me.
Let me introduce you to: Stefanie

wearing a bicycle on a bicycle!

Ario & Enea, 2 students who look like cool Flemish boys, but where they actually come from, I don’t know…

Ilse, a friend on the road!

Royal lady
Posted by Benedicte | Filed under Brussels, fashion, hats, walk with a bike, winter
I met a very classy lady on her bike one of these winter mornings. Dressed in a beautiful dark green coat with black furry finishing, accompanied by a warm fur hat and leather gloves. Kate is even is brave enough to come out in a skirt. Against the background of the royal palace, Kate could almost be a royal lady!

Summer Profile: Théophile Calot
Posted by Stefan | Filed under Brussels, Summer profile
It’s summer in the city, the temperatures are high – occasionally, that is – and our activity level rather low. Not that we mind, after a really, really busy spring. We had our portrait sessions in Bruges and Hasselt in May, an outdoor exhibition in Hasselt, a Tweed & Vintage Ride in Ghent, Cycle Chic Castings and a rather wicked fashion show in Antwerp.
Does that mean no more buzz on the blog? No, of course not. For this summer, we decided to start a new series: Summer Profile. We’ll be doing some portraits or profile features on people we like, people that are doing something cool that includes – in one way or another – a bicycle. For now we’re not looking further than Brussels, simply because everybody thinks Brussels is the most bicycle challenged city. But it’s also the most bicycle creative city.
Unlike most series, we have no idea how many or how periodically we’ll do a feature – most likely when we feel like it.
We’ll kick it off with Théophile Calot, from Théophile’s Papers. Théophile has a passion for graphic design (working for the T.H Studio, Studio Jurgen Maelfeyt and APE), independent publishing, OSB and bicycles.

Théophile’s Papers is an indie & itinerant bookshop with permanent corners in Brussels (Abilene Gallery) and Paris (Artisan Social Designer), providing a platform for the diffusion of independent publishing houses, fanzines, journals, magazines and other print material focussing on art, photography, typography and illustration. His pop-up installations and book displays are created in cooperation with designer Valerian Goalec. All OSB, all absolute design coolness.
Théophile decided that the best way to get around and to distribute all of the zines and printwork in Brussels and beyond was by bicycle. So he got himself a decent transport bike, and by doing so re-invented the whole American newspaper boy concept.

Théophile had two OSB crates custom made for his bicycle – one for the front carrier and one for the back.

Did you know you can follow Théophile’s adventures on Facebook?

Had to be in Brussels today. When I left the building I saw this woman unfolding her white Strida folding bike.
