Het zat al een tijd in onze hoofden. We zagen geweldige voorbeelden in Londen, New York, Washington DC, Curitiba… We konden met andere woorden niet achterblijven.
Daarom is het met superveel plezier dat we, in samenwerking met Met Belgerinkel naar de Winkel, Radio Modern en Achielle, de allereerste Tweed & Vintage Ride in Vlaanderen voorstellen!
Zater dag 5 mei, vanaf 10 uur is het zover. De ingrediënten voor een zalige retofietstocht: Sint-Jacobs vintage markt, ontbijt via Exki, het Beauty Boudoir van de Modernettes, muziek, frisdrank van Bionade, het Zuid, dansles met SEp’n Hop en een very old skool swingfeestje – Charleston! – met dank aan Brouwerij De Koninck.
Bovendien geven we twee Limited Edition Belgerinkelfietsen van Achielle weg, aan de fraaist uitgedoste heer en dame.

Belgerinkel in Gent!

Uitstekend nieuws voor de Gentenaren, want na enige jaren geen campagne gehad te hebben in hun stad, neemt een van de grootste fietssteden in Vlaanderen opnieuw deel aan Met Belgerinkel naar de Winkel – wat dan weer de grootste en bovendien gezelligste fietscampagne van Vlaanderen is.
Check alvast het campagnebeeld – Gentenaars herkennen ongetwijfeld het straatje – en lees er meer over onderaan deze post.
Elk jaar in mei moedigt de campagne iedereen aan om te winkelen met de fiets en bij de handelaars en dienstverleners in de buurt. Elke editie koppelen we hieraan een thema. Dit jaar gaat Belgerinkel lekker retro en volledig vintage. Nostalgie naar de good old days toen iedereen nog de fiets nam…
Wie van 5 mei tot 9 juni 2012 boodschappen doet met de fiets, krijgt in elke deelnemende winkel een stempel op de spaarkaart. Met een volle spaarkaart maak je in elke gemeente kans op een unieke Belgerinkel-fiets van het stijlvolle Belgische merk Achielle en andere mooie prijzen. Fietsers die een volle spaarkaart hebben verzameld kunnen ook sparen voor een retro rieten fietsmandje van Who’s That Girl.
Meedoen is overduidelijk de boodschap!

In front of the parade, there was a real brassband!

People did a great job on decorating their bicycles.
The girl below won the Belgerinkel poncho for her brilliant bicycle and outfit!

Fairytale poncho

It features, amongst others, one of our favourite Belgian musicians and undeniable style icon Daan. Since Belgerinkel is all about how much you can transport on a bicycle, Daan wrote the coolest little essay on…
HOW TO TRANSPORT YOUR COOL
And it’s brilliant. He covers three steps: the horse, the rider, the choreography.
About the horse, Daan suggests to go retro or to customize. As for the rider, he simply states to ‘dress for the occassion’. And when riding he has these wise words: ‘Be a gentleman to pedestrians (m/f), but a rebel to cars. You will not verbally abuse cars that block your way (a pleonasm). Simply, en passant, wiping the dust from their hood with your middle finger gives a more subtle effect.’
Let there be no doubt: Daan is a cool rider, referring to his bike as a steel horse and himself as a modern cowboy – something he already illustrated back in 2006 with his video for The Player. We posted it when we started this blog, but just for your viewing and listening pleasure: here it is once more.

Mother & daughter

In the spirit of mothersday we wanted to present you this beautiful mother and daughter. We met them at the starting event of Met Belgerinkel naar de Winkel in Mechelen, and had a lovely little chat with them.
Parenthood is all about setting an example for your children. That obviously also goes for showing them the fun and advantages of riding your bike and being cycle chic.
