Spring fashion

Spring is just around the corner – it is, really! – and you can bet your well shaped ass that there will be plenty of fashion brands and stores using the bicycle to promote their spring and summer collections.
Here are two examples we just happened to run into lately. Notice how panoramic images seem to be the new black.

Le Baiser Blotto – Robert Doisneau

- Le Baiser Blotto 1950
Robert Doisneau was a French photographer. He is renowned for his 1950 image Le baiser de l’hôtel de ville (Kiss by the Town Hall), a photograph of a couple kissing in the busy streets of Paris. The picture above is also a photograph from the LIFE assignment on young lovers in Paris. Good to know is that Doisneau did not risk taking images of real couples kissing; he employed a models (mostly young actors-in-training), placing them in interesting situations, with highly “Parisian” settings as backdrops. In every photograph he sought to reproduce the same gestural grace he had observed in other young lovers as they kissed. Below are some other pictures from his official website, showing some more people with bicycles.

Oh! my bike – Longchamp fall 2012
Posted by Stefan | Filed under fashion
We’ve seen it before and it’s not really all that anymore: fashion brands that incorporate bicycles in their campaign. But Paris based Longchamp has caught our attention.
They’ve come up with a 2012-2013 fall and winter campaign called ‘Oh! my bike’ that is being launched on September 6th and are trying to create a buzz about it on Facebook. We are curious, so they’ve succeeded so far.
In the meantime, here are the photographs of the campaign, starring Coco Rocha and Emily Didonato and shot by Max Vadukul. I’m sure you’ve seen them in your favourite fashion magazine.

When you’re flowing through the streets of Paris, your mind follows. What could be on hers? Maybe the (boy)friend she’s meeting up with to start her weekend.
